Black Girl

Black Girl

With your magic

You pull beauty out of situations so tragic

You stand by my side

Ready to ride

Against the opposition

No matter the condition

Strength like no others

Even above my brothers

You hold us all up

So if gratitude was like wine, let me fill your cup

Black Girl

Black Girl

There is a radiance in your beauty

I can’t see why society would portray you as too moody

Its your melanin filled skin

The way you’re able to smile even when the world runs your patience thin

That's where your beauty lies

The most lovely sight to meet my eyes

Dark flowers from the most beautiful garden

One day I hope you can teach me how even with age your skin never hardens

Standing against any obstacle you meet

Your soul unwavering never admitting defeat

Your beauty is indescribable

It’s only admirable

Black Girl

Black Girl

I love you

I can’t see why anyone could be placed above you

My sisters, mothers and grand mothers

You all have a place in my heart that can be taken by no others

The most beautiful creation

This poem is dedicated to you in my appreciation
