Every brother ain’t a brother
My mama taught me that
Cause even Judas turned on Jesus
And stabbed him in the back
Just like Julius Caesar
There are many examples, just
you pick.
Just like the NFL now
How they turned on Kaepernick.
I’m simply living on borrowed time
That’s just how they see me.
Cause niggas like me was supposed be in the field picking cotton.
But now niggas like me on tv.
America, ‘Land of The Great’ they say
But that’s only if you’re white.
Or else,
They take all of your resources
Spilt your families,
Then exclude you out of spite.
But brother, why exclude me now?
Are we not born of the same sin?
Are we not asking the same questions?
Wondering truly what is within.
But I guess that’s just the difference between us, huh?
Nah, we aint ever been the same
Cause you quicker to sell me out to the world
Then leave my culture up to be claimed
There’s a history divide between us
That one of us created
And this bad blood that’s there
is the reason why I’m hated
For my Blackness
For my womaness
Whatever you want to call it
But just let me know when you’ve realized
How short this “democracy” has fallen.
Cause Justice ain’t being served
To people who look like me
Justice ain’t been served since we still hanging on trees
Strange fruit is still growing, even in the dark.
Bitterness festering like a rash,
Black bodies put on display like art
There’s a cultural divide
Cause you won’t see the world through my eyes.
So I say, why not let it burn?
Your anger is validated
My anger is suppressed
I hope one day that you learn.
